Websites Built For Business Growth

A collection of articles, insights, recommendations, instructions, and general observations about the web, web marketing, and web design

What happens when you pull into the parking lot of a store that looks run down? Think of it this way. When you're looking for new car stereo, you most likely start by searching the telephone book (back in the day when you used to use the yellow pages!). You find a few stores in your area and call them to ask about brands, models and pricing. Once you've decided which stores offer what you're looking for, you drive over for a look around.

What happens when you pull into the parking lot of a store that looks run down? One that has obvious signs of neglect? One that looks as though the owner should have it condemned? If you're like most people... you keep on driving!

Internet and mobile, two amazing inventions of technology that have made our lives easier and convenient.

Even if you're not planning on selling online, a well-crafted site is essential for any business.

20thingsIlearned.com One of the great things about the internet is that it has leveled the playing field when it comes to competing with the big boys. As mentioned, you have one shot at making a good first impression. With a well-designed site, your little operation can project the image and professionalism of a much larger company. The inverse is also true. I've seen many big company websites that were so badly designed and hard to navigate that they completely lacked professionalism and credibility. A possible opportunity for you, a lost opportunity for them.

A main problem is that not many small business owners understand the web, nor do they have the cash to bring on an in-house expert (like the big boys). An really, who has time to learn all there is to know about browsers, malware, PHP, conversions, HTML5, privacy, security, open source, and on and on and on?
